The Mission of Saint Frances Cabrini Stewardship Committee is to foster the understanding within the Parish Community that everything is a gift from God. We are called to receive God’s gifts gratefully, cultivate them responsibly, share them lovingly in justice with others, and return them with increase to the Lord. Doing so in relationships, we find ourselves and our supreme calling becomes clear. (USCBC & John Paul II).

Activities include recruiting volunteers through the ministry celebration, and providing stewardship information in the bulletin.

Stewardship – Our Grateful Response to God’s Love

Every word was carefully chosen. Let us explain:

“Our” – We are a community and we cannot achieve the kingdom on our own. “For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.” MT 20:18

“Grateful” – We are profoundly thankful for the blessings we have received personally and as a community. “And whatever you do, in word or in deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.” COL 3:17

“Response” – We are a parish of doers. We show our gratitude by what we do. “If a brother or sister has nothing to wear and has no food for the day, and one of you says to them, “Go in peace, keep warm, and eat well,” but you do not give them the necessities of the body, what good is it? So also faith of itself, if it does not have works, is dead.” JS 2:15-17

“God’s Love” – God shows us his love in how he has blessed us all. His love is all around us. “For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor present things, nor future things, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.” ROM 8:38-39.

Since it is our parish goal to have every parish member know this definition and be able to articulate at least one way they live it, we must start with you.

Some examples:
- Ushers greet people, hand out worship aids and bulletins, assist people to their seats
- Pastoral Care visits the homebound and brings eucharist to those unable to attend Mass
- Cantors and musicians share their musical talents with the entire community
- Respect Life encourages prayers for the dignity of all human life, hosts Holy Hour for Life and Baby Shower and sells flowers in May for Seed of Hope Center
- Praying with the rosary group before weekday morning Mass and at 10 am on Sundays
- Individuals and families regularly supporting the parish through financial contributions
It is important to keep in mind that we have listed many ways someone can live out the stewardship definition through action. Stewardship must also be shown through gifts of financial support to continue living out “Our Grateful Response to God’s Love”.
